Frankston Life Saving Club Events
Another successful event completed by Frankston Water Safety Team - with help from Seaford, Mount Martha and Point Leo
Members from Frankston Life Saving Club lead the way to Ballarat to complete water safety duties at the Ballarat 70.3 Half-IronMan event.
Held on lake Wendouree on Sunday 13 December 2015, this was our first IronMan event away from the familiarity of our home beach.
27 Life Savers took part on Rescue Boards, in IRBs and Jet Skis. 9 entrants were removed from the water, suffering a range of ailments, thankfully none of which were deemed too serious.
Feedback from the organisers was positive, with one official commenting at the post-event de-brief that our team was "the best in Australia". (Does this mean our tickets to World Ironman Championships in Hawaii are in the mail!?)
OUR NEXT EVENT - GEELONG 70.3 IronMan
Opportunities are now available to be part of the Water Safety Team for Geelong 70.3 IronMan. This promises to be a huge event, with IronKids on Saturday and the main event on Sunday morning.
Planning is well under way and at this time it looks like we willrequire 9 powercrfat and 13 Rescue Boards. It would be nice to see a few more Frankston members take part in this one, so all our hard work results in funds raised staying at our club, instead of being paid out to other Clubs.
The cost of all meals, transport and accommodation is covered by the event organisers, so no-one should be out of pocket for giving up their time.
As for Ballarat, accommodation will most likely be in tents at a local camp ground.
